\nPaul Carriere has set up for the Elluminate session and I am sure it will be posted here soon.

\nTake care...and I hope you find lots of time for structured learning-focused conversations that enables you to deepen and share your learning with others.

Change is often not comfortable. I was elated at Linda's comments about the wisdom of the elders. I am definitely one of those elders and I appreciate that we are finally being recognized as a force to be reckoned with. The nice thing about my generation is that for the most part, most of us just want to do right by all. I am very much like that. My goal as an administrator, and I repeat it to myself almost every day, is "do no harm". As my husband constantly tells me, Diane you are not on your way up (the ladder)! You are on your way out! Make it your best years.
\n
\nI was intrigued by the work on trying to determine where my school fits in the scale of moving. I said (from my initial evidence of what I see at the school) that mine was cruising. When I said that I didnt' see it as a bad thing. I see lots of good things going on in my school, but I definitely see the teachers working harder than the kids to make things happen. And the kids are not making the connection. But kids being kids, things are always a work in progress and I was so glad when Linda and Judy reminded me that solid change takes a long time and stick with it.
\n
\nTo be cruising is very much okay - as long as it doesn't last too long. My staff has just has two relationship breakups with spouses and two others who have just completed a two year study with masters. They are all masters but they do need to rest and rejuvunate. I am okay to support and do what I can and address the hard stuff as I need to.
\n
\nThere. My catholic conscience already feels better and I hope my comments as a cruising school were not misrepresented. As a driver of a PT Cruiser, it's a good thing!

\nPerhaps, as I discovered while teaching a group of grade 7's last year, that it might not be necessarily about working harder, but working "differently." There was a lot I have has to "unlearn" the "relearn" about what it takes to engage our digital natives. Check out the video page on this wiki and watch the "vision k-12 video" ....your thoughts?","dateCreated":"1256301350","smartDate":"Oct 23, 2009","userCreated":{"username":"pkinghorn","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/pkinghorn","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1222195038\/pkinghorn-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"17445287","body":"Hi Diane and Patrict,
\n
\nI enjoyed this elluminate session immensely! I found it informative and I appreciated the real situations everyone is presently working on, either in understanding their new roles or in getting others excited about education.
\n
\nPatrick this video illustrates that our young learners are global communicators. It astounds me how quickly they share information with each other, be it across the classrooms or across the world. Distance is no longer a boundary. Ideas of time and space have changed. For example, have you watched a student using the internet? They rapidly skim text and move on. The don't read. The same goes for text messaging - I send complete words. Young learners do not. As you said Patrick, in order to present a meaningful curriculum for the 21st century learner whose mind travels faster than the non- digital learner, (possibly light years faster) we need to be working differently. As the video says, kids need to learn to or be allowed to create, to analyse, and to think for themselves. Instead of teaching kids maybe we should be guiding them to teach themselve. (AFL?)
\nJust think, China in 2016 will be the largest speaking country! Where will our kids be? Where will you be? I think I'm going to China.
\n PS Where is the spell check on this?? And the Happy Faces??
\nCheers! Have a great weekend!
